We’re getting lots of reports that police officers are pulling folks over demanding an explanation of what they’re doing and requiring proof of them falling into the essential services exception to the current shelter in place order. We’re recommending preparing a written “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN” letter on company letterhead identifying your business as an essential construction business and confirming that the person holding the letter is an employee/representative of the company and thus carrying out essential construction activities. If you have employees still working in the office, or you’re utilizing the services of subcontractors who may not be able to generate their own letter, letters prepared on their behalf may also need to be prepared.
